FERGUSON, MO (KTVI) - The Ferguson Commission report is recommending sweeping changes to address racial and economic gaps in the St. Louis area. The Commission released the report Monday.

The 198 page report is called, "Forward Through Ferguson, A Path Toward Racial Equality." The report is very direct and upfront. It says, "We know that talking about race makes a lot of people uncomfortable. But make no mistake: This is about race."

The Commission was set up by Missouri Governor Jay Nixon to study the underlying social and economic conditions of the unrest that followed the shooting death of Michael Brown last year.

The Governor, commission members, elected officials and community leaders gathered at St. Louis Community College at Florissant Valley to officially release the report.

The Commission study makes the observation that quote, "The law says all citizens are equal, but the data says not everyone is treated that way."
